RECEIVES SETTLEMENT OF PUNITIVE DAMAGES INSURANCE CLAIM Governor Tauese Sunia has announced that the American
Samoa Government has received $22 million of the $40 million payment of the
insurance claim for hurricane damages. The balance of the payment is for legal
fees. The Governor is negotiating with ASG’s lawyers to pay taxes on their
earnings in American Samoa. A hearing that was scheduled for October 16th for the interest on the punitive damages claim has been rescheduled for November 14th. |
